Re-emergence of Stash McGursky

Tasked to bring the Ritz Crackerfuls "Stash It" traditional campaign to life, we decided to create the character Stash McGursky.

Stash McGursky is a cross between Shaun White, Chazz Michael Michaels and Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski. He's a semi-pro table tennis player known for his larger than life moves, appetite and... his stash.

Client loved it. Sold in. Wanted to wait. Then stuff happened so now it’s spec.

Let’s start with a backstory and what he’s all about

His ways

The Way Stash Sees Himself
Stash McGursky has a hunger for life that drives him to excitement, adventure and the open road. He has a hunger to share with people, interacting with them. He has a hunger for Ping Pong, the game he lives for. The only thing Stash doesn't have a hunger for? Hunger. That's why Stash is the stashing pro, always keeping a cluster of Crackerfuls in conspicuously close reach. Stash seems himself as a hero, a spokesperson for a way of life that he thinks everyone should know and enjoy.

The Way the World Sees Stash
Stash is a ridiculously sincere and dedicated character. So into his own lifestyle that he's hard to dislike. He's casually sponsored by Ritz, but he takes the sponsorship super serious, in an ardent way. He's admirable, because even though he's not very good at Ping Pong and he's not nearly as big of a deal as he thinks he is, he believes it so much that you have to give him a "right on, man!"

And for Stash, having fun trumps everything. And thats why everything - from his pretty good (but not amazing) Ping Pong game to his self-voiced over documentary film to his famous "Stashism" - catchphrases that are forgivable and lovable.

Stash is always positive
Good things happen to him. He doesn't ask for much. He's a philosophical everyman as evidenced by his "stashisms".
